WORKSHOP ON DEVELOPMENT OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS GUIDEBOOK (ISG)

The Centre for International Affairs has organized a Workshop on Development of International Students Guidebook (ISG) on 25th July 2018, at Seminar Room
1, PF2. The objective of this workshop is to develop and gather contents that have to be included in the International Students Guidebook (ISG.)
 
This workshop involved representatives from several respected centers such as Registrar Department, Security Department, Student Affairs and Alumni 
Department, Residential Principal Office, Library, Sports Centre, Centre for Graduate Studies; and School of Human Development and Technocommunication.
Each representative has to prepare relevant information to be discussed and presented in the workshop. It is hoped that the first draft of the guidebook can be
produced soon after this workshop.
 
This workshop was officiated by Dean for Student Affairs and Alumni Department, Assoc.  Prof.  Razli Ahmad.

ASIA SUMMER PROGRAM 2018

DONGSEO UNIVERSITY, BUSAN KOREA

8-27 July 2018

A total of 24 UniMAP students and 2 staff have been selected to participate in the Asia Summer Programme 2018 which took place on
July 8-27, 2018, at Dongseo University, Busan Korea.
This programme offers participants an exceptional opportunity to develop global leadership talents. It is also gives an experience studying
abroad with fellow students from universities across Asia and other continent. This three-weeks program participated by students from 31
universities from 12 countries that involves Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Philippines, Thailand, Bangladesh, Korea, Japan, Singapore,
Vietnam and Lithuania.
In this programme, students have to select one academic course in the morning and another course in the afternoon. Students can obtain a 
credit transfer that applicable to UniMAP courses. Apart from attending lectures, various activities have also been provided to participants
such as visits, Korean Cultural Event, Sports Day, Movie Night and other daily activities. This helps participants for long-lasting friendship
and build broad social network.
The selection of lecturers for the ASP 2018 programme is also quite different from the past years because the courses offered in this programme is
determined by the requests of the participants. From the selection process, two lecturers from UniMAP have been chosen to teach two courses from
a total of 52 courses offered. They are Prof. Dr. Rosni Bakar, (Director of Centre for Intellectual Property Commercialisation/Professor for Economics
from School of Business Innovation and Technopreneurship)for course: Basic Economic for Future Manager, while Dr. Nor’izah Ahmad (Deputy Dean:
Students Development and Alumni/Lecturer forCommunication School of
Human Development and Technocommunication) for course: Crisis Communication
in New Media.
Overall, all participants are very happy with the activities throughout the programme which will perhaps benefitted by experiences gained.

Student Internship Program is one of the collaborative activities in the MoU signed between Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) and Sri Ramakrishna Institute of Technology India (SRIT).  A total of 21 students (11 males and 10 females) from Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Computer Engineering participated in this program.  These students were placed at three different schools namely School of Mechatronics Engineering (6 students), School of Computer & Communication Engineering (8 students) and School of Environmental Engineering (7 students). 

Students participated in various activities including Introduction to IOT and Introduction to Micro:Bit 2017.  Apart from the classroom activities, they were also exposed to the industry atmosphere.  They had the opportunity to visit the refinery and the project site around Perlis and Kedah such as trip to Timah Tasoh Dam by Civil Engineering students, Intel Penang and the automotive industry GoAuto in Gurun, Kedah. 

On the last day of the program, students were asked to present their full report of the internship program at each school.  To conclude the program, a small ceremony was held to bid farewell to the participants.  Assoc. Prof. Dr. Abu Hassan Abdullah, Dean of School of Mechatronics Engineering presented the Certificate of Participations and exchange of souvenirs to SRIT.  Also present was Assoc. Prof. Dr. Noorhafiza Muhammad, Director of Centre for International Affairs.

 

 

 

Centre for International Affairs (CIA) in collaboration with Centre for Industrial and Government Collaboration (CIGC) have arranged a placement for Ms. Nadia Lohyeeta from Walailak University, Thailand at Western Digital Malaysia from November 20, 2017 untuk January 31, 2018.  The student is placed under School of Computer & Communication Engineering's supervision.  During the course of the Industrial Training, the student was on assignments for IT Engineer Projects Support and IT Help Desk at the IT Department.
